The Hebrew Israelite Scriptures are the Pre-exilic scriptures of what has been erroneously come to be known as and conflated with the Hebrew Bible.
Unlike the Modern Hebrew Bible of Babylonian Rabbinical Judaism
also know as the Tanakh, consists of 24 books that are traditionally divided into three main sections:
- Torah (תּוֹרָה, Tōrāh) - 5 books
- Genesis (בְּרֵאשִׁית, Bərē'šīt)
- Exodus (שְׁמוֹת, Šəmōt)
- Leviticus (וַיִּקְרָא, Vayyiqrā)
- Numbers (בַּמִּדְבָּר, Bammidbār)
- Deuteronomy (דְּבָרִים, Dəḇārīm)
- Nevi'im (נְבִיאִים, Nəḇi'īm) - 8 books
- Former Prophets:
- Joshua (יְהוֹשֻׁעַ, Yəhōšua)
- Judges (שֹׁופְטִים, Šōfṭīm)
- Samuel (שְׁמוּאֵל א' and שְׁמוּאֵל ב', Šəmū'ēl Aleph and Šəmū'ēl Bet)
